Consulting Electrical Engineer - Substation Design

The Engineer shall possess a broad range of experience, expertise and/or understanding of engineering topics especially related to substation design and construction. Job Responsibilities o Prepares complex engineering plans, designs, specifications, standards, evaluations and studies utilizing specialized analytical skills. o Responsible for solving unique problems using advanced analytical techniques. o Plans and develops project scope, and budgets with appropriate documentation. o Communicates solutions to personnel possessing a wide variety of educational and employment backgrounds. o Ensures compliance with codes, standards, and design, operation, and maintenance requirements. o Provides technical leadership to others in the department and throughout the company. o Ensures that problem solutions are tailored to PSE's business environment. o May coordinate the work of engineers, engineering assistants, field technicians, and others who assist in specific assignments (including contractors/consultants). o Reviews the work of internal and external (consulting or contract) engineering staff. o Supports emergency response work as requested including immediate and extended restoration efforts driven by weather and other system failures. o Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Skills/Abilities CONSULTING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: o Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or other appropriate engineering field. o Extensive experience in planning, design, specification preparation, maintenance, project cost estimating and scheduling (typically achieved after 10 years' practice as a degreed engineer). o Advanced technical and scientific expertise. o Experience leading engineering projects. o Strong interpersonal and communication skills. o Ability to work effectively and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external customers. SENIOR LEVEL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: o Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or other appropriate engineering field. o Substantial experience in planning, design, specification preparation, maintenance, project cost estimating and scheduling (typically achieved after 7 years' practice as a degreed engineer for the senior level. Less for other levels). o Demonstrated organization, documentation, prioritization, and project management skills. o Strong interpersonal and communication skills. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: o Experience working in the utility industry. o Possession of or ability to acquire a Professional Engineering license. o Knowledge of engineering economics and analysis. o Experience working on complex engineering projects. 20523
